Why watch the movie Behind the Shadows?
"In recent years, Brazilian cinema has begun to dive into "genre" plots. These are police, horror and suspense films that have started to gain space in theaters. And one example of this movement is 'Atrás da Sombra', a Thiago Camargo film from Goiás. Slow and contemplative, the production follows an obvious path of investigation to talk about things that go beyond the banal understanding of the theme. It talks about religion, racism and mourning, without ever exposing its themes and discussions. After all, Camargo brings layers to the narrative that enrich the exchange of reflections between the film and the viewer. It's not a story for everyone: the slowness of the narrative can be a hindrance and keep away most of the audience. However, those who accept and understand the proposal will find a good example of a Brazilian thriller. Special mention to Bukassa Kabengele's performance (from 'Pacificado') and the magnetic presence of Elisa Lucinda ('Talvez uma História de Amor')."
