When Apollo astronaut Gene Cernan stepped off the moon in December 1972 he left his footprints and his daughter's initials in the lunar dust. Only now is he ready to share his epic but deeply personal story of fulfillment, love, and loss.

"We all know that Neil Armstrong was the first human to step on the moon... but who was the last? With the conclusion of NASA's Apollo program in 1972, Gene Cernan was the last man to leave his footprints in the lunar dust, as mankind has not returned with manned missions since then. However, 'The Last Man on the Moon' is a documentary that goes beyond, not in the epic proportions of space travel, but in the intimacy of those who dare to undertake it. Documentary filmmaker Mark Craig compiles archival footage of the missions, home movies and testimonies - including Cernan's own - to momentarily remove the halo of heroism around astronauts and expose the deep personal cost of the "space race"."
