Discovering covert and faulty intelligence causes a U.S. Army officer to go rogue as he hunts for Weapons of Mass Destruction in an unstable region.
"Countless movies have been made about the US war in the Middle East. 'Three Kings', 'Zero Dark Thirty', 'American Sniper' and, of course, 'The Hurt Locker', winner of the 2009 Best Picture Oscar. And 'Green Zone', a feature film starring Matt Damon and directed by Paul Greengrass ('Captain Phillips'). The plot follows the journey of a soldier (Damon, in one of the most interesting roles of his career) who begins to see a complete lack of sense in the American invasion of Iraq. From there, the character enters an almost Kafkaesque plot trying to understand everything that is happening in the Middle East - a feeling amplified by the opposing views of a CIA agent (Brendan Gleeson, excellent) and a US defense superintendent (Greg Kinnear). Although Greengrass's hand-held camera gets a bit tiring at times, it's hard not to leave the movie more thoughtful, reflecting on the direction of humanity."
