When reflecting on life, at the age of 90, former train commander Evaristo recalls his trajectory on the railroads. Amid the ruins, cycles and lapses of memories, he recognizes the decay of the railways and their imminent end.
"A sad portrait of the railways in the city of Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul. What used to be part of Brazil's history now faces a situation of abandonment. 'Depois do Fim' is a sensitive, beautiful and poetic documentary. Director Álvaro de Carvalho Neto made his debut in feature films with this movie and showed that he has a promising future. Carvalho Neto made use of old images, without exaggeration, and brought an interesting montage, contrasting the past with the future - and highlighting the typical architectures of the stations, which brings a very strong symbolism when showing the abandonment of these places. 'Depois do Fim' is an excellent documentary for those who like history and architecture."
