An ex-soldier, living homeless in London, is offered a place to stay at a decaying house inhabited by a young woman and her dying mother. As he starts to fall for her, he cannot ignore his suspicion that something sinister is going on.
"Despite becoming known for her roles in the romances 'Desire and Reparation' and 'Castle of Dreams', Romola Garai's debut as a film director is a horror. 'Amulet' is a typical haunted house horror movie that proposes a kind of "cat and mouse" haunting. In the role of mouse, a homeless man who is taken in by a certain house. And in the role of cat, a mother and daughter who end up revealing bizarre behavior. From there, with a remarkable performance by Imelda Staunton (Dolores Umbridge from 'Harry Potter'), the feature film bets on camera and visual resources to scare the viewer. Sometimes it scares, sometimes it makes you want to laugh. But in the end, it's good entertainment."
