Why watch the movie Kika?
"Kika is a drama by director Alexe Poukine, selected for the Critics’ Week at the Cannes Film Festival, with a unique premise. The story follows a social worker who, with a daughter and a pregnancy, suddenly becomes a widow. Overwhelmed by debts and grief, she discovers the world of sex work to support herself financially, though the BDSM practices requested by her clients confront her with her own identity and her notions of love, pleasure, and kindness. It’s a film that, given its subject matter, could lean toward sensationalism. However, Poukine approaches these issues with curiosity and empathy, making it a production that is not only moving but can also broaden your perspective on these topics."
