The film is about the struggle of traditional Brazilian peoples against oppressive urbanization.

"Silvio Tendler is one of those necessary, urgent filmmakers. Throughout his long and prolific career, he has been responsible for titles such as 'Dedo na Ferida', 'Utopia e Barbárie' and 'Jango'. In 'Fio da Meada', the filmmaker returns to touch on sensitive themes. This time, however, it is the cruelty of oppressive urbanization, gentrification and the invisibility of indigenous peoples suffering from the advance of cities, farms and the like in their territories. And, to build the most accurate portrait and make the denunciation possible, Tendler makes use of a wide range of supporting material, mainly sequences showing the struggle of these peoples to maintain their cultures and their spaces. An urgent and necessary film, which calls for attention, reaffirming the importance of indigenous peoples in present-day Brazil."
