As Finn, now 17, struggles with life after his captivity, his sister begins receiving calls in her dreams from the black phone and seeing disturbing visions of three boys being stalked at a winter camp known as Alpine Lake.

"Black Phone 2 is a horror film directed by Scott Derrickson, the sequel to the first movie based on the short story by Joe Hill (son of Stephen King). The story takes place about four years after the first installment, with Finn (Mason Thames) recovering from his traumatic kidnapping at the hands of the Grabber (Ethan Hawke). When his sister (Madeleine McGraw) begins having dreams that guide her to a snowy camp in the Colorado mountains, the siblings must confront an evil that resists even death. Among sequels to major horror films, this one works exceptionally well, taking the repercussions of violence and trauma seriously and expanding these themes coherently. The climax slightly breaks the tone of the rest of the film, which may unsettle some viewers. Nonetheless, it is a worthy successor to the excellent first part."
