Why watch the movie Wonder of the Century?
"It is always intricate to find good movies about the history of religiosity in Brazil. There are always different views, opinions, looks. That's why it's so interesting the initiative of 'A Maravilha do Século', a feature film by documentarian Marcia Paraiso that talks about the Italian Giovanni Maria de Agostini. In the 19th century, he left Europe to cross the American continent preaching messages of religiosity, respect for the environment and struggle for land. Called a prophet, monk or Saint John Mary, he is known for a simple faith, distant from the dogmas of the traditional Church, close to the knowledge related to herbs and respecting nature -- and which, in the context of a globalized world and with serious environmental problems, ends up gaining new meanings."
