The Fallen Astronaut depicts the compelling story of one of the most extraordinary achievements of the Space Age, a sculpture on the Moon dedicated to all the astronauts and cosmonauts who died during the Race to the Moon.
"It is well known that the "space race" between the United States and the Soviet Union claimed the lives of several astronauts and cosmonauts. Less known is the story about the sculpture that was placed on the Moon by the crew of the Apollo 15 mission... as well as the controversies between the astronauts and the author, the Belgian artist Paul Van Hoeydonck, about the meaning, purpose and even the exploitation of the work. 'The Fallen Astronaut' dives into the issue, perhaps with an overly obvious bias towards Van Hoeydonck's version of events, but it remains a fascinating story.
