"Produced in the United States, this Mexican family comedy is a true living postcard of Mexico’s nostalgia. From the title, it takes us directly to childhood and off-color jokes, to innocence, but also to mischief, with a journey that passes through the Jamaica market, the streets of Polanco, La Condesa, the Historic Center, and all the panoramic shots of the city that make up the map where Pepito, a 10 year old boy, has to survive by selling candy and washing cars, while visiting his mother in the hospital and trying to pass the school year. Written and directed by Joaquín Rodríguez, 'Yo soy Pepito' is a unique opportunity to share with an entire new generation a Mexico of spicy but quite innocent and good-natured jokes. The cast is very good, led by the very young actor Alessio Valentini (‘Hasta que te conocí’, ‘Ingobernable’), plus the rewarding surprise of seeing César Bono playing the school director, who gives Pepito the most important moral lesson of the movie. Also appearing are actors Luis Felipe Tovar (‘The Mexican’, ‘Su nombre era Dolores’), Gustavo Sánchez Parra (‘Amores perros’) and Mark Tacher (‘Qué pobres tan ricos’)."
