"This is the second feature film as a director for Dariela Ludlow ("Un día menos"), known as one of the best cinematographers currently working in Mexican cinema ("Los adioses," "Las niñas bien"). "Esa era Dania" is a movie that blurs the line between documentary and fiction, made in collaboration between the director, screenwriter and editor Miguel Schverdfinger (editor of "Zama," "Carmín tropical," among others) and the protagonist, Dania Deloya. It is a cinematic exercise that, in addition to portraying the harsh reality faced by many young single mothers in Mexico, also illustrates how cinematic representation (and in all the arts, in general), even within the documentary genre, is a product of "autofiction," through a subjective selection of filmed events, framings and editing."
