Why watch the movie Maria Luiza?
"Documentary that delivers a big question: what makes someone a man or a woman? This question has been relevant in recent years and has become quite complex. Director Marcelo Díaz makes us reflect on gender identity with the great 'Maria Luiza'. Rich in beauty, especially for the respect with which the story exalts the figure of Maria Luiza, the first transgender woman in the Brazilian Armed Forces, this film shows how national productions can show the strength of LGBTQ + culture in a very poetic way. 'Maria Luiza' joins 'Divinas Divas', 'My Body is Political', 'Indianara', 'Fabiana' and other Brazilian feature films that give visibility to trans people."
