"In retrospect, it is extraordinary that this is considered one of the masterpieces of filmmaker Agnès Varda, considering it was only her second feature-length film. At the time, it was a highly innovative movie, set within the avant-garde of the "Rive Gauche" (contemporary with—and sometimes parallel to—the French New Wave).
