The Intruder

"Argentine director Natalia Meta's second feature film, 'Muerte en Buenos Aires', is like a subtle nightmare caught between psychological thriller and fantasy horror, never deciding on either genre, with an extremely enjoyable result. 'El prófugo' follows Inés (Érica Rivas from 'Relatos salvajes'), a woman who moves between choral singing as a soprano and dubbing Spanish B-movies, who after suffering a traumatic event during a romantic trip, starts to lose her sense of reality. The script, also by Meta, takes the protagonist on a gradual descent based on the ambiguity of her perception, in a game with the viewer in which it is never clear if what we see is reality or Inés' imagination. An intelligent and elegant movie that will please fans of Lynchian escapes and Dario Argento's giallo cinema."
