After turning 40, César is invited to a culinary contest in Cancún, but a bitter discovery threatens to destroy his family as well as his chances to win the competition.
"Directed by Italian Pietro Loprieno, 'Cuarentones' is a Mexican comedy in which a successful chef (Erick Elías) seems to have the perfect life, he is an acclaimed chef invited to a cooking contest in Cancun together with his colleague Paolo (Adal Ramones), but his perspective changes when his wife (Ximena Gonzalez-Rubio) makes him a confession. The movie tackles the already classic theme of midlife crisis, in which as people we tend to question our decisions and the direction of the rest of our lives. The script is crude in its dialogue, the jokes are basic and sometimes even childish, but the performances are decent and the theme can make many in the audience relate to its story."
