Why watch the movie The Man in the Basement?
"Starring an all-star cast of French cinema, including Oscar-nominated Bérénice Bejo ('The Artist'), François Cluzet ('Untouchable') and Jérémie Renier ('Double Lover'), this psychological thriller from Philippe Le Guay ('Riding the Rails with Molière') is one of those movies that will leave you scratching your head. It puts our own certainties into question by bringing up current debates such as historical revisionism, denialism and intolerance. In the story, the life of a Parisian family is turned upside down when a man full of prejudices moves into their basement without permission. The absurd situation leads them to the extreme of their own violence and makes us question the limits of life in society."
