A comedic retelling of Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet," told from the point of view of Romeo's jilted ex, Rosaline, the woman Romeo first claims to love before he falls for Juliet.

"If you've ever thought that 'Romeo and Juliet' is a very stupid story, you'd get along great with the creative team behind this movie. 'Rosaline' is a retelling of Shakespeare's classic directed by Karen Maine (of the great 'Yes, God, Yes') that mocks all the precepts of romantic love that have been created and universally immortalized by literary tragedy - and even replicated by typical romantic comedies of our day. The movie doesn't always hit the mark and sometimes even contradicts itself. Nevertheless, Maine's direction is efficient and the cast will make you laugh out loud, with special mention to the always excellent Kaitlyn Dever ('Booksmart') as Rosaline and Isabela Merced ('Dora and the Lost City') as Juliet.
