Why watch the movie El planeta?
"The debut of director and artist Amalia Ulman stars her and her own mother, Ale Ulman. 'El Planeta' is about a mother-daughter duo in post-crisis Spain who, to have the lifestyle they think they deserve, resort to theft and fraud. Mixing the chaotic energy of the Nouvelle Vague with the languor of filmmakers like Hong Sang-soo, Ulman portrays with surprising tenderness the absurdity of life between petty crimes and of a family that always wants more, despite living in poverty."
