""The People We Hate at the Wedding", a movie based on Grant Ginder's novel, tells the story of two siblings who travel to the UK with their mother (Allison Janney) to attend their estranged half-sister's wedding, in an attempt to reconnect. However, their dysfunctional dynamics get in the way, leading them from one mishap to another. Though conventional by American comedy standards about complicated families, Claire Scanlon's (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) direction is very good, and her excellent cast featuring Kristen Bell (The Good Place), Allison Janney (I, Tonya), Ben Platt (Dear Evan Hansen), and Cynthia Addai-Robinson (The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King) makes it all very enjoyable."
