Why watch the movie The Last Year of Darkness?
"A documentary by director Ben Mullinkosson that delves into the nightlife and underground scene in the city of Chengdu, China. Specifically, it explores the world of DJs, ravers, skaters, drag artists, and other regular inhabitants of the nightclub Funky Town, which is about to close its doors as a sign of changing times. The Last Year of Darkness is a portrait as frenetic as it is candid, as well as a celebration, of those who thrive in that darkness: marginalized individuals who find refuge in clubs, parties, and, in some cases, excess, before the morning brings back the sun and all the problems they face each day."
