Why watch the movie MaXXXine?
"MaXXXine is the conclusion of director Ti West's X Trilogy, starring Mia Goth. The story continues in 1985, six years after the events of X, with Maxine Minx now a star in the adult film industry, trying to transition to "mainstream" cinema. Simultaneously, a figure who knows about her dark past tries to blackmail her and thwart her plans, while a serial killer is loose in Hollywood, claiming the lives of several sex workers and actresses at the height of the "Satanic Panic" of the Reagan era. With vast references to film history, the third movie in the trilogy successfully grounds themes introduced in X and its prequel, Pearl: together, the three parts form a triptych that analyzes the moral schizophrenia of American society and culture, with female fame existing in the constant tension between prudish conservatism and misogynistic exploitation."
