Why watch the movie The Deliverance?
"The Deliverance is a thriller directed by the divisive filmmaker Lee Daniels, known for acclaimed films like Precious and others that have been more controversial, like The Paperboy and The Butler. In this Netflix exclusive, Lee delves into a case widely covered at the time it occurred, when Latoya Ammons and her three children experienced strange incidents in their home in Gary, Indiana, which progressively worsened. According to the family, they were going through a process of possession: the children were levitating, becoming violent with each other, and speaking in deep growls with no memory afterward. Many were skeptical, but official government departments, as well as the local church and hospital, got involved, documenting reports that took the supernatural occurrences seriously. The Deliverance thus dives into this event, trying to understand, through a mix of horror, drama, and suspense, what happened within the Ammons family."
