Chico Bento leads a quiet life in Vila Abobrinha, surrounded by his friends and guavas, until the construction of a road on Mr. Nhô Lau’s land threatens his guava tree and mobilizes the whole gang.
"Chico Bento e a Goiabeira Maraviósa is, perhaps, one of the most beautiful children's films ever made in Brazil. It's a bold statement, but there are reasons for it: the feature film, which follows the same style as Turma da Mônica: Laços and Lições, talks about Maurício de Sousa's beloved and popular character trying to prevent his guava tree from preferred to be torn down to make way for a road. Isaac Amendoim, the little actor who plays Chico, is brilliant -- in the accent, in the notes of emotion, in the truth that passes through every word he speaks. A film to have a good laugh (especially with the always brilliant Zé Lelé) and also shed some tears, especially with a final scene that pays homage to Brazil's country culture."
