Why watch the movie O Quatrilho?
"One of the great films of the so-called Brazilian Cinema revival. Nominated for an Oscar for Best Foreign Film in 1996, being the second Brazilian feature film to achieve such result after 'O Pagador de Promessas', it helped to repopularize Brazilian cinema both here and abroad. Furthermore, based on real events, it accurately depicts the life of immigrant peoples in Brazil in the turn of the 19th century to the 20th century, in a story full of romance, love, drama, betrayal, and resilience."
