"Paddington in Peru is the much-anticipated third installment in the series of adaptations of the beloved bear created by Michael Bond. The plot follows Paddington and the Brown family, who must travel deep into the Amazon in Peru to find the bear’s aunt, Lucy, who has mysteriously disappeared. With solid direction from Dougal Wilson (who replaces Paul King from the previous two films), but an uneven and not very original script with its villain, this third part falls short of the heights reached by the masterful Paddington 2. However, it manages to coherently close the themes introduced by the first two films, such as empathy, acceptance, and identity in the migrant experience, adding a relevant commentary on Europe's colonial history with Latin America, and love as a cure for greed. A fitting conclusion to a nearly perfect trilogy."
