The villain must work with his rival, SpongeBob, to repair their relationship and save the world. With the animation style of the more recent installments of the franchise, both in movies and TV series, this film appeals to new generations while offering something familiar for longtime fans. However, the plot doesn’t propose much, and it’s evident that the creative genius of SpongeBob creator Stephen Hillenburg (who passed away in 2018) is missing. Plankton: The Movie is a production that will work best for young children and die-hard fans of the sponge."
