Why watch this film?
Known as Chile's Bob Dylan, Victor Jara was a fearless political singer who led the historic Nueva Cancion folk movement in Chile during the CIA-backed Pinochet dictatorship. Pinochet's regime eventually would torture and kill Jara - along with 3000 others - in the National Stadium, for writing a song about the covert killings.
"The fourth episode of the ReMastered documentary film series, dedicated to important passages of musical figures that left their mark on history. 'Massacre at the Stadium' takes us to Chile, where Victor Jara's music became synonymous with resistance to dictatorship during one of the cruelest periods in Latin American history."
