Jonas Mekas : I am not a Filmmaker is a documentary about one of the most emblematic figures of American Avant-Garde Cinema. Mekas was born on a farm in Lithuania in 1922, and was imprisoned 20 years later in a Nazi labor camp. After he regained freedom, he went with his brother to the United States. He started out there as a messenger in New York City and went on to become a film critic, an advocate of the emerging underground movement, a poet, the inventor of the genre Film Diary, and the founder of "Anthology Film Archives". Jonas Mekas, now 89 years old, welcomes Jerome Sans in his Brooklyn loft and shares his irrepressible need to film his environment, day after day, frenetically -- just as he has done since the beginning of his career with his friends John Lennon, Yoko Ono, Andy Warhol, Jackie Kennedy...
