In London Darren and Ludivine are very happy together and Darren asks Ludivine to get married with him: she accepts but proposes him to spend a quiet week-end in house of her parents in the Périgord.In castle of Sauvadieu the baron Ademar, Ludivine's father, receives the visit of Maître Folace-the bailiff- because he has to pay many income taxes.Ludivine and Darren arrive at the castle: she presents Darren as good pal of London to Ademar and Béa: first shock for the baron who has a very sarcastic humor about the Bristish people-the rivalry between France and England and also the rivalry between Sauvadieu and Sauvignac-. A little later Ludivine speak with her mother Béa about the financial situation of the family-a disaster-.The son Auguste and his friend Sébastien arrive at the castle and so they can begin the supper-canard confit cuit dans sa graisse- , later Darren has to taste the local cheese.At the moment of the toast Ademar is happy about the return of his daughter and Darren announces that he will marry Ludivine.Ademar is shocked and his daughter will never marry an Englishman and he will not go the wedding.Ludivine is quite sad, because her dream was to celebrate her wedding in the castle of the family and asks to Darren to make all the efforts to become the friend of her father.
