This feature documentary tells the inside story behind the hunt for ISIS poster boy "Jihadi John" by the US and British military and intelligence services. It interrogates the twisted worldview espoused by ISIS - the richest and most notorious Islamist terrorist organisation in history - and its propaganda machine which was operated by "Jihadi millennials" who turned social media sites such as Twitter and YouTube into recruitment platforms.
"In 2014, the West was shocked by the presence of a man with a British accent featured in multiple videos produced by the Islamic State. Nicknamed "Jihadi John", he was identified as Mohammed Emwazi – and, after being hunted by American and allied forces, was killed in Syria in 2015. This original HBO documentary tells this story and, through the accounts of the victims who survived the terrorist, attempts to piece together the complex relationships that exist in the Middle East."
