The Last Journey

The Last Journey is a Swedish documentary (the country's submission for the 2025 Oscars), directed by comedians Filip Hammar and Fredrik Wikingsson, about Filip's attempts to help his elderly father, a retired teacher, reconnect with his will to live through a road trip across France. It's a beautiful film that touches on the paternal love and the sadness children feel seeing their parents age helplessly. Its only flaw might be that it feels more like a cathartic exercise for Filip Hammar, rather than an exploration of his father. Nonetheless, it's a heartfelt film about family love and the relationship between parents and children.
