A crew of aquatic researchers work to get to safety after an earthquake devastates their subterranean laboratory. But the crew has more than the ocean seabed to fear.
"Describing 'Underwater' as an "Alien: The Eighth Passenger" of the deep sea would not be completely out of place. Its director, William Eubank (from the interesting 'The Signal') develops a horror movie very similar to dozens of others we have seen before. On top of that, it is starred by a group of stereotyped and poorly developed characters, who are hunted by a group of lethal creatures. However, it stands out from other productions of the genre thanks to the tense and claustrophobic atmosphere of the feature, caused by the originality of its underwater settings. Kristen Stewart (from the 'Twilight' saga) and Vincent Cassel ('Black Swan') lead a poorly used cast, but they fulfill their role."
