"Often, the world of prostitution is portrayed in films with a morbid vision towards its more lascivious or even violent side. The Filipino movie 'Cuddle Weather', however, takes the opposite approach, looking at its two protagonists through rose-colored lenses to talk about the desire for emotional intimacy beyond pure sex (something that makes it closer to movies like 'Pretty Woman', for example). On the one hand, it's refreshing to portray the environment of sex workers without taboos and at the same time address their emotional needs, completely separate from an occupation in which they tend to be objectified. Its tone is somewhat saccharine and simplistic, but its theme makes it a more interesting proposal than the typical romantic dramas."
