Tattoo of Revenge

"From Mexican director Julián Hernández ('I Am the Happiness of This World'), 'Rencor tatuado' is a thriller with deep influences from old-school dark cinema - and made to present us with a story that, despite taking place in the 1990s, still reflects (unfortunately) the contemporary context of gender violence and femicides all over Mexico and, of course, the rest of Latin America. With an instantly recognizable visual style, the current and unfortunate reality blends with the fantasy of revenge against unpunished crimes and machismo through a heroine who strengthens herself by protecting others and doing justice with her own hands."
