Why watch the movie Hoaxed?
"Fake news, a phenomenon that has gained renewed strength in recent years, arouses anger, curiosity, fascination, and concern. After all, with them, governments are elected, reputations are destroyed, and important choices are made, changing the dynamics of life in society. Now, the documentary 'Hoaxed' goes beyond the superficial layer of fake news and tries to understand how they come to life. Directors Scooter Downey and Jon du Toit talk to internal agents of this phenomenon, interviewing those who provoke, create, and spread false news around. They also follow the path of destruction that a fake news can cause. 'Hoaxed' is essential to understand how the world is today, how this scenario can be reversed, and, most importantly, how to combat this phenomenon."
