Why watch the movie We Are What We Are?
"Mexican filmmaker Jorge Michel Grau's debut feature is one of the most impactful and memorable debuts in contemporary national cinema. Just as George A. Romero did with zombie films in his time, 'We Are What We Are' takes on the violence perpetrated by cannibalism to comment on marginalization and family dynamics in Mexico, with healthy doses of macabre humor. It may turn your stomach, but it's a cult classic-worthy film due to its theme, aesthetic, and great cast featuring Paulina Gaitán (now known for films like 'Niñas bien' or TV series 'Diablo Guardián'), alongside renowned Mexican actors like Daniel Giménez Cacho ('Zama', 'Solo con tu pareja') and Jorge Zárate ('El infierno')."
