Why watch this film?
After failing to find success on Broadway, April returns to her hometown and reluctantly is recruited to train a misfit group of young dancers for a big competition.
"Remembering the Disney teen productions of the early 2000s, 'Feel the Beat' is another step from Netflix towards these unpretentious and enjoyable movies to watch on any afternoon. Directed by Elissa Down (from the sappy romance 'I Know I Will Love You'), the feature film excites with good dance scenes while telling the journey of a dancer who does not find success on Broadway, returns to her hometown and ends up in charge of training a dysfunctional group. There are no major plot reinventions, nor is Down's direction creative or daring - although some moments and scenes gave the hint for it. It's basically a "comfort movie", perfect to have on hand in the Netflix catalog to pass the time. Highlight for Sofia Carson (from 'Descendants'), who is increasingly establishing herself as one of the main names in youth cinema."
