The 12 Best Movies About Presidents, Ranked

What does it mean to be the President of the United States? Are you the leader of the free world, the responsible holder of the highest status in the land, a role model to one and all? Or are you a power-hungry despot, a selfish apex of broken ideals of exceptionalism and imperialism? Or is it somewhere in between? Or does it change from person to person? These are big questions for a big office, questions that have been explored in various movies throughout the years. While there are a litany of interesting movie presidents in bangers like "Dave," "Idiocracy," and "Fail Safe," some of our most direct interrogations have come when filmmakers and performers set their sights on the real-life rulers, donning prosthetics and turning history into drama. So turn in your ballots and enroll in those electoral colleges. These are the 12 best movies about presidents, ranked. Some of them criticize,

Why Kim Basinger's Vicki Vale wasn't in Batman Returns

Tim Burton's Batman is one of the most important movies of the 20th century. Released in 1989, it's widely credited as one of the world's first modern superhero movies, and you only have to watch it to see why. Michael Keaton plays the titular superhero in a film that ultimately redefined his career, with many still calling him the best Batman actor to this day (and it's hard to argue with that). He was joined in the film by Jack Nicholson as The Joker and Kim Basinger as Vicki Vale. The film's success resulted in Warner Bros. wanting a sequel and, in 1992, Batman Returns arrived in movie theaters. Keaton returned as the Caped Crusader, while Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman and Danny DeVito's Penguin served as the new villains in the eerie return to Gotham City. There was, however, one glaring omission. Tim Burton didn't want to make a direct

Randolph Scott's 10 Best Westerns, Ranked

Randolph Scott is one of the most recognizable and acclaimed actors in Western history, with a storied career spanning from 1928 to 1962. Scott's command of the screen was not just down to his towering, well-built 6'2" frame, but also his charismatic delivery, stellar performances, and good looks. He built career-long collaborations with some of the best Western directors in the genre, like Budd Boetticher and Henry Hathaway, which resulted in some of the most iconic Westerns of the time, cementing his legacy as one of the era's strongest leading men. Though Scott appeared in many different roles in numerous varied genres, such as war, horror, and fantasy, it was his Western films that truly set him apart, showcasing his innate ability to portray rugged, complex characters. Some of the best Westerns he starred in, such as Ride the High Country and Ride Lonesome, show his skills at portraying a hero with

Batman 1989's New Sequel Brings The DC Villain I've Always Wanted In A Batman Movie To Tim Burton's Gotham Universe

Warning: This article contains Spoilers for Batman: Resurrection35 years after Tim Burton's Batman (1989) kicked off the modern era of live-action Batman movies, a new sequel has expanded the universe and given me something I've wanted for as long as I've been a Batman fan. Burton's movies introduced a number of what we'd all consider the top-level Batman villains: the unholy trinity of Joker, Catwoman, and Penguin, of course, but new novel Batman: Resurrection adds even more names to the Rogues Gallery. One thing I've always bemoaned about Batman movies is the lack of imagination when it comes to choosing villains. We've seen the Joker multiple times, the Riddler twice, the Penguin twice, Catwoman three times (whether as a villain or not), and beyond that, the Rogues have been limited. Sure, we've seen lots of Batman villains imagined elsewhere, thanks to the likes of the Suicide Squad movies,

Following ‘Batman: Resurrection,’ John Jackson Miller to Extend Burton’s Batman Saga with ‘Batman: Revolution’

Tim Burton’s Batman films are still widely regarded as groundbreaking and have significantly shaped modern comic book movies. Although Burton directed only two films—Batman (1989) and Batman Returns (1992)—before being replaced by Joel Schumacher due to creative differences with the studio, his influence endures. Fans continue to celebrate Burton’s Batman movies as cinematic masterpieces. Recently, that legacy was expanded with the release of Batman: Resurrection, a novel set between Burton’s two films. Written by New York Times bestselling author John Jackson Miller, the book serves as a direct sequel to the 1989 movie, continuing the story of Michael Keaton’s Batman. If you thought that was the last we’d see of Burton’s Batman universe, there’s more exciting news—Miller has confirmed he’s working on a follow-up novel, slated for release around this time next year! John Jackson Miller is a familiar name to comic book and sci-fi fans,
