Russell Johnson And William Shatner Co-Starred In An Episode Of Boris Karloff's Show

Captain Kirk and the Professor once starred in an episode of an anthology series hosted by Frankenstein's Monster. Just a few years before they landed their most iconic roles in "Star Trek" and "Gilligan's Island," respectively, William Shatner and Russell Johnson appeared in Season 1 of Boris Karloff's "Thriller," one of the best anthology series ever made. "The Hungry Glass" starred Shatner as photographer Gil Thrasher, who moves to New England with his wife, Marcia (Joanna Heyes). Johnson played Adam Talmadge, the realtor who sells the couple their home. Naturally, there's something wrong with the house. The previous owner,

David Carradine's '60s Western With Robert Mitchum Is A Gem You Can Watch For Free

John Carradine was there to witness the moment John Wayne became a star in 1939's "Stagecoach." The actor portrayed Hatfield opposite the Duke's Henry, the Ringo Kid, and had a front row seat to director John Ford pulling Wayne's performance out of him by force in what remains one of the most important Westerns ever made. But John's sons were always going to struggle to match their father's Western filmography. David Carradine didn't get off to the best start when he starred in a short-lived 1960s Western series based on a much more successful film, "Shane." But he did appear in some solid prairie sagas in his time. The younger

Before Star Trek, Leonard Nimoy Guest-Starred In A Western Series We Don't Talk About Anymore

We may receive a commission on purchases made from links. Almost every single cast member of the original "Star Trek," as well as show creator Gene Roddenberry, racked up multiple credits in the Western genre. This is logical, as the Western was an overwhelmingly dominant genre from the inception of film through the 1960s, so there were many movies and TV shows to choose from. Case in point: William Shatner was in episodes of "The Virginian," "Outlaws," "The Big Valley," and "Gunsmoke." DeForest Kelley was in "The Lone Ranger," "Gunsmoke," "Zane Gray Theater," and dozens of others; Kelley was an established Western star. James Doohan was on "Gunsmoke," "Bonanza," and "The Virginian.

After Gilligan's Island, Bob Denver Starred In This Even Goofier '70s Kids' Show

We may receive a commission on purchases made from links. Even when "Gilligan's Island" ended its three-season run on CBS in 1967, Bob Denver, who played the titular castaway, soon found himself playing another character who was stranded and trying to get home. In 1975, Denver played a janitor who accidentally got blasted into space in the short-lived children's series "Far Out Space Nuts." The CBS series was created by Sid Krofft and the late Marty Krofft, the same duo behind other '70s kids shows like "H.R. Pufnstuf," "Sigmund and the Sea Monsters," and "Land of the Lost." John Wayne Was Surprised By The Brutal Conditions Of One Stagecoach Chase Scene

John Ford's "Stagecoach" is the platonic ideal of the American Western motion picture. The genre existed before it, but this film set the template that all subsequent oaters would observe, tweak, or full-on subvert. Oh, and it also made John Wayne a movie star (albeit with a good deal of effort). For a movie that's been copied countless times, "Stagecoach" still plays like gangbusters. The tale of a stage run from Arizona Territory to Lordsburg, New Mexico, boasts an assortment of colorful characters played vigorously by terrific actors like Claire Trevor (who got top billing over Wayne), Andy Devine, John Carradine, Thomas Mitchell, and Chief John Big Tree. It's got your standard Apache assault,
