Mike Beckingham to Star With Billy Zane in ‘Waltzing With Brando’ (Exclusive)

Rising star Mike Beckingham will star in “Waltzing With Brando” alongside Billy Zane, who plays a “Godfather”-era Marlon Brando in the upcoming movie. Beckingham, younger brother of actor, writer and producer Simon Pegg, will play Bernard Judge in the comedic feature, which is set in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Official Trailer for Dark Mystery 'The Host' Starring Maryam Hassouni

"Beware - even those who look innocent can be dangerous." Vertical Entertainment has unveiled an official trailer for an indie crime mystery thriller titled The Host, the feature directorial debut of TV director Andy Newbery. There have been at least two other major films with the name The Host, including Bong Joon-ho's monster movie, and also the sci-fi flick from Andrew Niccol. Can we stop using this especially bland title, please? Newbery's The Host is about a London banker who risks everything taking on a job carrying a briefcase to Amsterdam. "But all is not as it seems in a city veiled by dark secrets. Fuelled by power players, drugs, seduction and violence Robert awaits his turn in a deadly game of choice and consequence." Starring Maryam Hassouni, Mike Beckingham, Dougie Poynter, Nigel Barber, & Suan-Li Ong. Watch out. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Andy Newbery's The Host, direct

Stars Rising in the East

Actor Jake Abel has been dubbed a rising star, but he knows when to be humble — like, for example, when he meets Frances McDormand later this week at the 16th annual Hamptons International Film Festival, which opens today on the eastern end of New York's Long Island."McDormand's been in the business a lot longer than me, and she knows a lot more than I do," says Abel. "Whatever it is they have us doing with her, it's a shut-your-mouth-and-listen-to-the-master-speak situation."Abel, a 21-year-old actor from Ohio, is one of three American actors who are part of the festival's Rising Stars program, designed to draw attention to actors on the brink of success. He has featured roles in Flash of Genius, which will be shown at the festival, and the upcoming Lovely Bones, starring Mark Wahlberg and Rachel Weisz and directed by Peter Jackson. Other Rising Stars are Taylor Kitsch
