Why watch this film?

If you're looking for a light and simple movie, steer clear of 'I'm Thinking of Ending Things'. Following the style that made Charlie Kaufman famous in the world of cinema, such as in the screenplay for 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind' or 'Anomalisa', this new Netflix psychological thriller is one of those punches you don't even realize is coming. After all, from a car ride of a couple of lovers (Jesse Plemons and Jessie Buckley), the viewer is taken into a story about dreams, desires, relationships and accomplishments. Or better yet: about unfulfilled dreams, past desires, unrealized relationships and accomplishments that have become only dreams. It's not an easy movie to decipher, nor does it have a contagious rhythm. However, from sensations and emotions, it is almost impossible to remain apathetic to the story. A great movie, one of the best and most original of 2020.
