Why watch this film?
Continuation of 'Attraction: The War Is Near', this is yet another great example of current Russian popcorn cinema: plenty of special effects, spectacular action and globally appealing themes, resulting in a feature-length perfect for exporting. In terms of CGI, 'Vtorzhenie' doesn't fall short to productions from Marvel Studios, for example. On the other hand, don't expect an intricate and deep story, as independent Russian cinema knows how to do so well. The goal here is not to innovate or inform, but simply entertain. So, in many moments, you will feel that deja vu of some American blockbusters. For those looking for something in the line of directors like Michael Bay (from the 'Transformers' saga) and Roland Emmerich (from 'Independence Day'), they have found the perfect movie. Just don't forget the popcorn (with plenty of butter, please!). The movie is now on Netflix under the new title of 'Alien Invasion'.

Rebel Moon - Part Two: The Scargiver
It was said about the first installment, and it can be said about Netflix's Rebel Moon (Part Two): it is a movie that only Zack Snyder fans will enjoy. The film continues to be a copy of the classic 'Seven Samurai', but in space: our heroes, led by Kora (Sofia Boutella), return to their small agricultural moon to prepare the defense against the invaders from the Empire. The story unfolds in a predictable manner (even more so if you've seen Kurosawa's classic), with Snyder's usual stylistic vices: overuse of slow motion and gratuitous Christian symbolism. If you liked the previous one (or the director's other movies), you will undoubtedly enjoy it. Otherwise, it might be better to skip it.
