Why watch this film?

Dave Franco's (Neighbors, 21 Jump Street) highly anticipated directorial debut, 'The Rental', pays homage to slasher films while looking to the future. He utilizes all the genre's clichés and attributes (stupid decisions, who will die first, etc.) but with a modern twist. The story follows a group of friends who decide to rent a secluded house on Airbnb. From there, the horror and cat-and-mouse chase ensue. It's not an exceptional horror film, but it certainly brings a much-needed freshness to the genre and is truly entertaining--thanks in part to some great plot twists. Enjoy with popcorn, soda, and an open mind for fun.
