Why watch this film?

After 'Cinderella', 'Sleeping Beauty', 'The Little Mermaid' and 'Beauty and the Beast', Disney took a different female approach by bringing a Native American protagonist. What in theory is incredible, in execution became a beautiful animation, with a love story that was able to pacify the territorial dispute between white men and indigenous tribes, but ended up softening the real history of Native Americans and colonizers. 'Pocahontas' touches on a discourse about prejudice and female empowerment, but it all ends up reducing to love. Of course, for children it works well, but with an adult eye it is difficult not to analyze the story more coldly. The animation won two Oscars, Golden Globe and Grammy, all thanks to the soundtrack.
