Why watch this film?
The Smurfs 2 has become one of the most successful comic book adaptations to hit the big and small screens. It has spawned cartoons, movies, and more. The latest franchise, made entirely in 3D with higher quality lines, has repeated this success of the magical and blue gnomes. In The Smurfs 2, the story is a bit cliché and repetitive - almost a blatant copy of the first movie. However, with the charisma of the creatures and some good challenges on the Smurfs' journey, the film remains exciting and attractive to the little ones. Only the older ones, perhaps excited by the comics and cartoons of the 1980s, may find a bit of sameness in the story, quickly straying away from it.

Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed
The first live-action adaptation of 'Scooby-Doo' had the charm of seeing its protagonists in person for the first time as an ace up its sleeve, which in some way made up for its deficiencies as films. In the face of criticism, the only argument to justify a sequel was purely commercial. And indeed. 'Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed' shares the uncomfortable identity crisis of its predecessor, like an animated cartoon that tries to be a realistic looking teenage comedy. For the stubborn fans, the appeal is in seeing the villains of the classic franchise come back to life, but beyond that and a more visually accomplished Scooby, there is little content for non-fans.
Scooby-Doo
'Scooby-Doo' is undoubtedly one of the most beloved cartoon series of all time and, by far, one of the most popular from the legendary Hanna-Barbera animation studio. Therefore, expectations were extremely high for a live-action adaptation, and the result is interesting, to a certain extent. After all, stuck between its essence of childish cartoon, the technological limits of its time and those of real actors, 'Scooby-Doo' is uncomfortably cartoonish and adult at times, although for fans the thrill of having seen it is undeniable. In addition, it's magical to see your favorite characters interpreted by actors on the big screen for the first time. Which is undeniably a merit of the cast's work, since Matthew Lillard, Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar and Linda Cardellini fit perfectly into their roles (to the point that Lillard has voiced Shaggy in several movies and animated series of the franchise since then).

Robot Dreams
Sometimes we get so carried away by the marketing power of studios like Disney Pixar, and we overlook other avenues for deep and powerful animated stories that don't need excessively complex plots to evoke emotions. Such is the case with Robot Dreams, a Hispanic-French production directed by Pablo Berger (2012’s Snow White), based on the eponymous graphic novel by Sara Varon. Set in New York during the 80s, the story follows Dog, whose solitary life leads him to buy a robot for companionship. Their friendship grows, but an unfortunate day at the beach forces them to separate and long for the day of their reunion. Virtually without dialogue, with vibrant animation and a captivating visual language, the film tells a simple yet profoundly moving story about (curiously) human relationships and the course they take despite (or because of) accidents, fortuitous circumstances, and uncontrollable events that happen throughout life.
