Gaspar Noé, director of films such as 'Irreversible' and 'Love', arrives with a psychological and psychedelic horror, about a party with many young people, music, and a sangria spiked with LSD. The result is a true visual and sensual journey. We also have French actress Sofia Boutella, who has been making a name for herself in Hollywood, with 'Atomic Blonde' and 'Star Trek: Beyond' on her resume. It's clearly not a movie for everyone, but it will surely seduce those who want to dive headfirst into human excess.

The name Gaspar Noé often evokes formal provocation and experimentation. And there is something of the latter here, with a narrative using split screen. Yet 'Vortex' is the director's most distinct - and intimate - work, in a diametrically opposite register to works like 'Irreversible' or 'Climax'. Here we follow the last days of an elderly couple (Françoise Lebrun and Dario Argento, the legendary director of 'Suspiria'), who suffer from dementia. The story is inspired by Noé's very personal experiences (his mother's dementia and his own stroke in 2020), resulting in a deeply emotional story that will shake you to the core.
