Meshes of the Afternoon

A woman's dark desires play out in vivid dreams, blurring reality and fantasy.

Trailer

Why watch this film?

Maya Deren and Alexander Hammid, the duo of artists, are responsible for this surrealist work 'Meshes of the Afternoon'. It is almost a female version of Luis Buñuel's 'Un Chien Andalou'. The production is full of disconnected images that shape the psyche of the female character, at times we don't know if she is dreaming or delirious and everything is clarified in the ending. It is a very curious film and one must have patience, as it is 15 minutes that can seem eternal if you are not immersed in the story.

Plot summary

A woman returning home falls asleep and has vivid dreams that may or may not be happening in reality. Through repetitive images and complete mismatching of the objective view of time and space, her dark inner desires play out on-screen.
