Why watch this film?

Glauber Rocha was a transgressor, one of the most important names in Brazilian cinema and a great exponent of Cinema Novo, and 'Deus e o Diabo na Terra do Sol' is one of his most important films. In a story of fugitives and outlaws in the backlands, in a land where no one is for anyone, Glauber addresses various themes, such as mysticism, popular culture and religion through symbolism, emphasizing that man should choose his own belief and path, instead of being guided by external influences. The director does not adhere to the moment of his time, but deals with timeless issues of Brazil, such as phenomena that alienate the worker and distract his perception of his own reality with intangible promises.
