Why watch this film?
'Highlander' is certainly pure 1980s juice. The script presents Connor MacLeod, a man cursed with eternal life and the pain of losing everyone he loves - all while being forced to play a sick game against other immortals to find out who will be the last one standing. A journey that starts in the 16th century Scottish Highlands, crosses Europe and arrives in a gritty 1980s New York. It has something for fans of action movies and those looking for historical references. The direction is by Australian Russell Mulcahy, who brings a music video language at a time when MTV was beginning to dictate the aesthetics of pop culture. American Christopher Lambert of French descent plays the Irish protagonist, while Scottish Sean Connery plays an Egyptian with a Spanish name called Juan Sánchez-Villalobos Ramírez. The salad gets its tastiest seasoning with the great original soundtrack of Queen, with hits like 'Princes of the Universe' and the ballad 'Who Wants to Live Forever'. It had all the ingredients to go wrong, but the result is so delicious that it broke the mold: no sequel comes close to the first movie (the TV series has its good moments, at least).

Vaguely inspired by the 80s classic also called 'Teen Wolf' (starring Michael J. Fox), MTV's 'Teen Wolf' series was hugely successful in the 2010s, riding the wave of supernatural and teen shows like 'Supernatural' or 'True Blood'. The series concluded in 2017, after six seasons. Years later, 'Teen Wolf: The Movie' picks up the story of Scott McCall, who is no longer a teenage wolf, but still must defend his town from the worst threat of all. The movie brings back many of the original cast members (including protagonist Tyler Posey), so it will be a treat for fans of the series, although it doesn't offer much for those who don't know it (or for those expecting something similar to Michael J. Fox's original version).

Rebel Moon - Part Two: The Scargiver
It was said about the first installment, and it can be said about Netflix's Rebel Moon (Part Two): it is a movie that only Zack Snyder fans will enjoy. The film continues to be a copy of the classic 'Seven Samurai', but in space: our heroes, led by Kora (Sofia Boutella), return to their small agricultural moon to prepare the defense against the invaders from the Empire. The story unfolds in a predictable manner (even more so if you've seen Kurosawa's classic), with Snyder's usual stylistic vices: overuse of slow motion and gratuitous Christian symbolism. If you liked the previous one (or the director's other movies), you will undoubtedly enjoy it. Otherwise, it might be better to skip it.
